Our next momma tattoo story comes from my favorite BlogMommas contributor, Angela. Angela and I have been blogging buddies for years now and I remember when she posted her story over on her blog and I remember thinking how cool her tattoo looked and how awesome it was that she shared the experience of getting it with one of her friends. Below is the post from Angela’s blog and the picture of her (and her friend’s) tattoo.
“A long time ago (almost 20 years) Faithe and I talked about getting a tattoo while we were sitting sipping sangria on a beach in Spain.
All these years later we finally went and got it done. American Tattoo here in Omaha is a great place (probably the best place) to get a tattoo if you are thinking about getting one done.
The guys that did the tattoo were great! We got to have them done at the same time. Yes, it hurt but it was well worth the pain. I would describe it as how you might feel if you stayed out in the sun too long.
You can probably see a bunch of different things if you look closely at the tattoo pic.
There’s a heart in the middle which stands for the love that we have for each other and the love that we have for our friendship. There are two swans which symbolizes each of us. There are two Christian fish which symbolizes our faith in Christ Jesus. If you look at the entire tattoo you might even see some eyes as in a mardi gra mask.
I think it’s a pretty cool tattoo.
I think it’s pretty darn elegant.
I love it!”

I love it too, Angela! It is beautiful and I love that it symbolizes so much. And (ooo la la!) it is in that spot that is just, well, sexy! I mean come on, we are all women here – we know how amazing that looks! LOL! Thank you so much for sharing!

Wow nice tattoo. Great work!
I am so excited and honored that you shared my tattoo story here on Blog Mommas. I will be sure and let Faithe know about this so she can come and check it out too.
I am thinking about getting a 2nd tattoo and having it put on my foot in some sort of scripting in the direction of my big tow but on the side. It want it to say: Gal 3:28 That verse deals with equality and/or racism and I feel so strongly about it that I want everybody to see that one so they have the opportunity to ask me about it. We’ll see if I get that one done. Maybe for my 40th?
I have thought about getting a tattoo, but I am a big chicken. My husband has wanted me to get one, but then again, he wants me to do all kinds of crazy stuff….
that’s so awesome! i don’t think i could get a tattoo though. i’d cry the whole time
I would say the way to describe getting the tattoo was that it feels like a little bit of a sunburn.
Does that make sense?
Depends on where you get it – if you go over bone it hurts like hell! Fleshy skin is easy… the back area where you got it is supposed to be one of the least painful (and surprisingly the neck too!). Ankles hurt majorly if it goes over the bone and the upper arm part that is closest to your body is pretty painful as it is very sensitive. Areas that are commonly exposed aren’t so bad… but some people do their fingers and hands and I am told that is one of the most painful.
