Tuesday’s Tip Jar: Butterflies

 - by Angela

My tip for Tuesday’s Tip Jar is if you want to have Butterflies fluttering around your house this summer all you have to do is plant flowers that attract them.

Every year I head on over to Walmart and pick up these large canister of Zinnia seeds. I scatter them in my garden in front of the house and they grow and bloom all summer long.

Butterflies come from all over to visit my Zinnias.

Tuesday’s Tip Jar: Gardening

 - by Angela

Mulhall’s is our local landscaping, nursery, and gardening center. Now that Spring is here it’s time for you to get out and check out what your area has so you can start your herb gardens, vegetable gardens, and flower gardens. Perhaps you need some landscaping done too!

Do some research to see who is available in your area. Many times your local nursery will have cool things planned for the entire family. Mulhall’s had a Spring Family Day and my girls had a blast participating in that one. Their grandma took them out and as you can see from the pictures we already have some corn, beans and sun flowers growing. They are growing so fast I need to get out and find some larger containers in order to get them transplanted.

Now more than ever I think it’s important to figure out who our local businesses are when looking for a specialty like gardening and landscaping. Even if you aren’t going to buy something or plan for special services, it’s fun to see what they have going on so we can get our kids involved and have them learn something new.

Exploration of local businesses would make for a great field trip opportunity if you are homeschooling your kids. What a great way to utilize and support the resources you have right there in your own communities.
